Feed My People Resumes Pop-Up Pantry in Ladysmith to Address Gap in Food Resources

As part of its commitment to providing food access throughout its 14-county service area, Feed My People Food Bank (FMP) will resume twice-monthly pop-up food distributions in Ladysmith beginning in October 2026.

FMP first launched a temporary pop-up pantry in Ladysmith last fall following the closure of Indianhead Community Action Agency's Rusk County Food Pantry. This service was intended to provide food access during a transition period while the community explored options for a permanent resource. Although a local pantry was initially able to expand its services, FMP has determined that households in the Ladysmith area will be better served with a return to pop-up pantries and a renewed effort to find a new longer-term pantry option.

"Our focus remains on making sure no one in our region goes without the food they need," said Padraig Gallagher, executive director of Feed My People. "We look forward to working with leaders in the Ladysmith community who hold the same values and are similarly dedicated to integrity and treating all people with dignity and respect."

FMP is resuming the pop-up pantry this fall to stabilize access to food for individuals and families in the area. At the same time, FMP is working with local community stakeholders to better understand the community's needs and determine both immediate and long-term solutions for food access in Ladysmith.

Pop-up food distributions are scheduled for October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, and December 2 and 16, from noon to 1 p.m. The initial location will be 310 Worden Avenue in Ladysmith, with a possible change in location coming for subsequent distributions. Community members are encouraged to check Feed My People's Facebook page for any schedule or location updates.

Financial contributions can help FMP continue providing food in communities where additional resources are needed. Gifts to FMP, as well as donations to local community pantries, help fill gaps and ensure food is available to people who need it.
