Stamp Out Hunger Returns!

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will resume its annual national food drive on Saturday, May 14. The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the country's largest one-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need.

To participate in Eau Claire, simply leave a donation of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox before the delivery of the mail on Saturday, May 14. Letter carriers will collect these food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes. Donations will be received in Eau Claire at Feed My People. To learn if your local post office is participating this year in your area, call to find out.

You are encouraged to leave a sturdy bag containing unopened non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, pasta, rice, or cereal next to your mailbox. Please do not donate perishable food items such as eggs, fruit, and meat, or anything packaged in glass. Healthy items are highly welcome, especially diabetic-friendly options, along with pop-tops for any canned items as they are easiest to open.

In addition to donating food items, you can also make a big impact by donating monetarily. Because of our purchasing power as a food bank, we can stretch every dollar donated further than what can be bought at the local grocery store. Give to Feed My People in support of the Stamp Out Hunger food drive at give.fmpfoodbank.org/StampOutHunger.

We are also in need of many volunteers to help sort food on Saturday, May 14, and Monday, May 16 to help get it ready to quickly go out to our hunger-relief partners throughout west central Wisconsin.
