Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month, a nationwide opportunity to raise awareness about hunger and take action to help ensure everyone has reliable access to nutritious food. Feed My People Food Bank (FMP) is inviting people across West Central Wisconsin to join the effort. 

Hunger remains a pressing issue in the region. In 2025, FMP and its network of partner food pantries and programs saw more than 101,000 first-time visits from people seeking food assistance, which was the highest number in the food bank's history. Within the first six months of this year, visits are up by 14% compared to the same period in 2025.

"Hunger Action Month is a time to understand and respond to the increasing struggles that households are having to secure basic nutrition," said Padraig Gallagher, FMP executive director. "It is a time for neighbors throughout our region to see each other and support each other."   

Throughout September, FMP is looking to raise $297,750 and have at least 2,100 volunteer hours logged. Community members are encouraged to wear orange and participate in Hunger Action Month activities. Whether someone donates, volunteers, or simply connects others to the mission, every action helps make sure food is available to neighbors when they need it.

Feed My People is grateful to Markquart Motors, the 2026 Hunger Action Month presenting sponsor, for their $25,000 donation. Their support is leading the way towards reaching the fundraising goal.
